Crystal Palace go to the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday (February 18) still waiting for their first Premier League win of 2023.

While both Brentford and Palace have exciting squads, their previous Premier League encounters have been anything but entertaining.

They have faced off three times in the top flight and they have all been draws. In fact, last season, no goals were scored in either fixture as they played out two stalemates.

This season’s game between the sides at least had a late equaliser as Brentford’s Yoane Wissa scored in the 88th minute, and the points were shared at Selhurst Park.

Apart from these head-to-heads, there is nothing to suggest Brentford will be short of goals. They have 1.64 goals per game this season and their total of 36 is only bested by five teams in the league.

The Bees have been good this season and a win could take them as high as sixth this weekend. They are in great form as well and are now unbeaten since October 23, a run of ten games including trips to Arsenal and Manchester City and hosting Tottenham and Liverpool.

There is more to suggest goals will be harder to come by for the Eagles on Saturday, because in their torrid league run in 2023 they have just three goals in six games.

Despite scoring 16 goals less than Saturday’s opposition, Crystal Palace are marginally outperforming them in expected goals per game, with 1.25 compared to 1.23.

The chances are being created, the remaining 16 games will all be about scoring them for Patrick Vieira’s men.

All of those in attendance on Saturday will hope the teams break their traditions in this fixture and produce some more entertaining football.
