Scott Wagstaff wants Charlton fans to stop jeering his long-term friend Morgan Fox.

The former Addicks star returned to the Valley with Bristol City last Saturday and was shocked by the treatment given out to the full-back by some supporters.

Wagstaff, 25, played with Fox in the U21s team, and says it is difficult for young players in a relegation battle.

And he has called on fans to back every player, insisting "that's what Charlton is all about."

Wagstaff told News Shopper: “I grew up with Foxy, he’s a couple years younger than me, but I would play alongside him in the U21 games if I wasn't in the first-team.

“He’s a good lad and a good player who’s got a big future ahead of him.

“It’s difficult for a young player, playing in a relegation battle which they’re in - it’s never easy.

“It’s not nice [to hear the home crowd jeer you] as we’ve all been there before. He’ll be fine and get through it.

“The fans have to make sure they stick with the lads because they always give their all for the team and fight to the end - that’s what Charlton is all about.”

Fox was subject to sarcastic cheers from sections of the home support when substituted in the second-half of the defeat to Bristol City.
