Crystal Palace are in a transfer battle with Premier League rivals to sign Inter Milan defender Davide Santon, reports in Italy say.

Santon, who has previously played in the top flight with Newcastle, rejoined the Italian outfit in January and has played nine of the club’s 14 league games this season.

However, Calcio Mercato claim the full back could be set to make a return to England this winter, with Palace and West Ham said to be interested.

Eagles boss Alan Pardew signed the Italy international while at Newcastle and is reportedly intent on strengthening his squad in the January transfer window as the South Londoners look to maintain their impressive run.

Palace may have competition to secure the 24-year-old’s signature, though, with the Italian report claiming that West Ham are also monitoring Santon.

Santon, who has represented his country on eight occasions, played 82 games for Newcastle between 2011 and 2015.
