Alex McCarthy has undergone a medical at Crystal Palace ahead of a £3.5m move from QPR.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper, who has three caps for the England U21 side, will be the third player to arrive at Selhurst Park this summer – following striker Patrick Bamford and record signing Yohan Cabaye.

Palace have activated McCarthy’s buy-out clause, following QPR’s relegation from the Premier League last season.

The signing is likely to spell the end of Wayne Hennessey's time at the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Algerian midfielder Adlene Guedioura could move in the opposite direction, after falling down the pecking order at Selhurst Park.

QPR boss Chris Ramsey told talkSPORT on Wednesday evening that he had "hoped" to sign Guedioura.

"We need to add to the squad still and we're working hard to do so," he said.

Palace are currently on tour in South Africa, ahead of the Cape Town Cup.

They will face Supersport United on Friday before facing either Ajax Cape Town or Sporting Lisbon in the final or the third place play-off.
