Addicks boss Guy Luzon is convinced new striker Simon Makienok can make the number nine shirt his own after completing a one-year loan switch from Palermo this afternoon.

The 6ft7in Danish international is Charlton’s third addition of the summer following the earlier captures of French midfielder El-Hadji Ba and German defender Patrick Bauer.

Markienok will now battle it out with Igor Vetokele and Tony Watt for a place in Charlton’s attack.

And SE7 head coach Luzon believes the 24-year-old Dane has all the right ingredients to be a massive hit in the Championship.

The Israeli told cafc.co.uk: “We now have a player who finally fills that number nine position we have been searching for.

“He will make us stronger in attack and his height will give us a very different threat which defenders will find difficult to play against, but he is very good with his feet, also.

“I’m very pleased to welcome him to Charlton and to continue building my team for the Championship.”
