Bournemouth striker Yann Kermorgant has thanked Charlton supporters for their appreciation during his side’s 3-0 victory which saw the Cherries crowned as champions at The Valley.

Kermorgant played an instrumental part in securing the title for Eddie Howe’s side, including an assist for the opener which was converted by Matt Ritchie after ten minutes.

Bournemouth added a second just two minutes later when another former Addick Harry Arter capitalised on an error from Yoni Buyens to fire past Stephen Henderson.

Ritchie then rounded off a comfortable victory for the champions with his second five minutes from the end shortly before the news filtered through Sheffield Wednesday had equalised at Watford to hand Bournemouth the title.

Despite nearly 5,000 travelling supporters celebrating throughout, arguably one of the loudest cheers of the day came when Kermorgant was substituted on 82 minutes, prompting a standing ovation from all areas of the ground.

And striker admitted that the reception he got from both sets of supporters was a special moment for him.

“I’ll never forget the support I received from the fans here as a player here for Charlton and the good moments we have had together,” said the 33-year-old.

“Coming back here with a big crowd with Bournemouth, with Charlton fans clapping me as well, was such an unbelievable feeling,

“That’s why getting the title at the end was the cherry on the cake.”

The Frenchmen, who spent three years in SE7 before being controversially sold to the south coast outfit in January 2014, also revealed he could not have wished for any more following the victory on Saturday.

Kermorgant said: “It’s been crazy. I didn’t expect it to be like this at the end of the day.

“Getting promoted last week was amazing but then getting the title today at Charlton – well, I couldn’t expect any better.”

Addicks boss Guy Luzon’s said afterwards Bournemouth can thrive in the Premier League, although Kermorgant was quick to state they will focus first on celebrating their current achievement before planning for their spell in the top flight.

He said: “We have to make sure we are ready for next season.

“We will enjoy the celebration with the Championship title and then have some holidays with family and friends and come back for the preparation.

“Every game will be a massive game.”
