Champions Bromley said goodbye to the Conference South with a 2-1 final day reverse at Gosport Borough.

In a typical end of season encounter with nothing at stake, it was a very poor performance by a makeshift visiting Bromley side who showed little interest from the start.

It was the hosts who bossed the first half and deservedly went in at the interval a goal to the good.

Gosport’s first chance came on 16 minutes when Justin Bennett held off his marker, but his effort was well saved by. Alan Julian.

The Lillywhites keeper was quickly off his line just two minutes later to deny Danny Smith, who had been put clean through on goal.

It took 27 minutes to arrive but Bromley’s first chance on goal was wasted.

Moses Ademola sent Bradley Goldberg clear, only for the striker to pull his attempt wide of the intended target when it appeared easier to at least work the keeper into making a save.

That miss proved costly as Gosport deservedly opened the scoring three minute later.

Matt Paterson latched onto a through ball from Bennett and volleyed home from the edge of the area.

Paterson nearly added another shortly afterwards before Ademola saw his goal-bound effort blocked by Brett Poate and then Danny Waldren volleyed over from the resulting corner.

The hosts doubled their advantage on 62 minutes when a four-man passing movement pulled the Bromley defence apart and Adam Wilde was on hand to finish from close range past an exposed Julian.

Although the keeper got his hand to the ball, he could not prevent it crossing the line.

Bromley then came back into the contest and Goldberg should have done better when he sliced Jack Holland’s cross off target.

Substitute Anthony Cook did likewise moments later after being set up by Goldberg, while another arrival from the bench Jamie Slabber saw his goal-bound header brush off a defender to take it wide of goal.

Cook fired over and Goldberg’s 20-yarder went narrowly wide as the game headed towards its conclusion.

However, Bromley pulled a goal back in the first minute of stoppage time when Cook converted the Ravens' 100th goal in 2014-15 from the edge of the area with a fiercely struck free-kick into the bottom corner to bring the curtain down on a highly successful season.
