Manager-less Welling United claimed three well earned points over Aldershot Town to take them further up the league.

Jamie Turner was again asked to take charge for the Wings with assistance coming from Loui Fazakerley.

Although the visitors had plenty of the play, Welling looked far more dangerous when on the attack and were good value for their win.

Early on, the visitors enjoyed plenty of the ball and Chris Barker twice failed to hit the target before Jamal Fyfield cleared off the line following a defensive mix-up.

Jordan Roberts tried his luck with a free kick that Benji Buchel claimed comfortaby.

Tyrone Marsh went on a run beyond Mark Phillips who was left clutching his hamstring but was unable to make the most of the opportunity. Phillips was unable to take any further part and was replaced by Tristan Plummer.

Kieron St. Aimie then sent Malachi Hudson away with a clever flick and Hudson's low cross found Marsh in plenty of space but the Oxford United loanee shot straight at Phil Smith when a shot either side would have given him little chance.

However, in first half injury time the two combined again and this time there was no escape for Aldershot. Hudson slid through a perfectly paced through ball and Marsh slipped it beyond Smith.

There was still time for the visitors to create a similar opportunity but Dan Fitchett shot wide.

Early in the second half, Welling doubled their lead and once again, Hudson was the architect. His run down the left wing ended with a pull back to St. Aimie and he finished joyously.

It could have been three soon after but a fierce close range shot by Joe Healy was saved brilliantly by Smith.

Aristide Bassele then headed over from Sam Corne's cross before Welling's defence was made to work as Aldershot looked to get back into the game.

Sam Hatton had a shot saved before the Shots pulled one back after 65 minutes. Buchel made a great save from Brett Williams but Glenn Wilson followed up to fire home.

Joe Oastler, Fitchett twice and Plummer all missed in the next ten minutes as the Welling back four restricted them to hurried efforts and Welling grabbed the all important third with ten minutes remaining.

Bassele's clever back-hell wrong footed the Aldershot defence and Marsh took his time before curling inside the far post.

Andre McCollin snatched a shot wide for the shots but there was almost a fourth for Welling when a superb effort from St. Aimie flew back off the post.

After the game, Welling United issued a press announcement proclaiming there new manager would be Jody Brown.
