Eagles boss Neil Warnock hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility of Marouane Chamakh returning to face Everton on Sunday.

The Moroccan striker missed last Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Burnley after coming off with a hamstring problem in the 3-3 draw at Newcastle before the international break.

Chamakh has trained this week but Warnock isn’t convinced whether it is worth risking him against the Toffees if it aggravates the problem.

“We are not far away,” the manager explained.

“Chamakh has trained in the last few days so we will probably leave him until the last minute.

“I don’t want to take a chance if it means risking losing him for six weeks so we will play it by ear with the physios and Chamakh.

“He has still got a chance, he has trained the last two days and hasn’t felt anything.

“He feels good but I used to have hamstring problems myself so I know you can do all the training and then on a game you do something without thinking about it and you pull it again so he has got to be ever so careful.”

Warnock also added winger Yannick Bolasie will have to work for the right to regain his place in the starting XI following a late return from international duty before Palace faced the Clarets last weekend.

“When you come back 24 hours before a game after you haven’t seen each other for two weeks I think you’ve got to expect the manager might not be pleased that much, so he has just got to accept things and move on.

“It is a squad game and he will be important for the rest of the season. It is just great to have competition.

“In the West Ham game for example Jason Puncheon was suspended and they didn’t have a lot of choice pace wise, so it is imperative at least the numbers we have got now for competition.”
