A GANG of teenagers who lured a 16-year-old to his death waved and blew kisses in court today (Sept 4) as they were locked up for a minimum of 87 years.

Samantha Joseph, the teenage girl who acted as a "honey trap" to lure Shakilus Townsend to the scene of his death in Thornton Heath, was given a minimum of 10 years in jail.

Her sentence led to cries of "scum", "shame" and "you honey trap" from the public gallery.

Some of the other six also sentenced at the Old Bailey turned around, waved and blew kisses and could still be heard yelling from the corridor outside the courtroom as they were taken down.

Deptford teenager Shakilus was beaten with baseball bats and stabbed six times last July.

CCTV footage from the day of the murder showed Joseph wearing a see-through floral dress as she met Shakilus and took a bus with him.

He thought they were on their way to meet her cousin but in fact she was leading him into the teeth of an ambush in a quiet cul-de-sac, secretly keeping in touch with older boyfriend Danny McLean by mobile phone all the while.

Joseph, who was just 15 at the time, laughed as they caught up with him, walking away as the brutal assault began.

McLean plunged a knife into Shakilus's chest, raking it across his liver before twisting the blade.

As he lay bleeding to death Shakilus, of Tanners Hill, Deptford, called out for his mother and cried: "I don't want to die."

Sentencing the seven Judge Richard Hawkins said Joseph had fallen "under the malign influence" of McLean and said it was a callous attack.

He said to the group: "You left him to die a lonely death crying for his mother."

In an impact statement, Shakilus's mother Nicola Dyer said: "I've been robbed of a very rare and precious gem."

She added: "How do I live a normal life when normal life no longer exists?

"Shaki was a loving caring son and an extremely valued family member."

And she said of her son's killers: "They should never again be allowed to destroy another family."

Joseph, now 17, of Brockley Road, Brockley, and McLean, 18, from Thornton Heath, were found guilty of murder alongside five other youths in July.

McLean was ordered to serve a minimum 15 years' detention. Andre Thompson, 17, from Norwood, was given a minimum 14-year term.

Former public schoolboy and London Irish rugby player Andre Johnson-Haynes, 18, from Croydon, brothers Tyrell Ellis, 19, and Don-Carlos Ellis, 18, of Thornton Heath, together with Michael Akinfenwa, 18, from Norwood, were given minimum sentences of 12 years.

Thompson was on bail for robbery and possession of an offensive weapon while Don-Carlos Ellis was on bail for a stabbing at the time of the murder.

Tyrell Ellis had recently received a suspended sentence for burglary.
