The former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police has called for the publication of a report which clears him of misconduct in the awarding of Scotland Yard contracts. Sir Ian Blair, who was sacked as Commissioner last year, says the report of an inquiry by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary should be published in the interests of justice.

However, the Vice-Chairman of the sub-committee that commissioned the report, Bromley and Bexley’s very own MPA member James Cleverly, says that the report will not be released into the public domain – however the prospect of publishing the report, possibly redacted, will be reconsidered at some stage in the future.

Excuse me? “Possibly redacted”? I’m sorry, but this has all the hallmarks of a typical political cover-up, a communist 'show trial' and really does a great disservice to the MPA. You can’t decide not to release a report that you’ve commissioned because you don’t like the findings!

Just what are the MPA hiding?

Let's have some honesty and integrity please. This type of behaviour is totally despicable in a democracy and the whole report should be released immediately. Boris Johnson and Kit Malthouse need to stand up and face the consequences of their actions, if it is revealed that they constructively dismissed Sir Ian Blair.

And James Cleverly needs to seriously consider whether he has a future in politics, given that the public have shown their contempt after twelve years of Labour government for those that deliberately spin and obfuscate the truth.
