As Rex Harrison observed in My Fair Lady - “......BUT, Let a woman in your life and your serenity is through, she'll redecorate your home, from the cellar to the dome, and then go on to the enthralling fun of overhauling you...”.

Never has there been a truer observation!

Let me regale you with the reason for me bringing this up. I went to the wardrobe the other day to find a certain favourite shirt to wear. After hunting around through the wardrobe – and any other place that it may be - I gave up and approached Mrs Excalibur.

“Do you know where my light red shirt is?” I enquired.

“No” came back the answer. Quickly. Too quickly, in fact.

“You do don’t you? Where is it?”

“It’s gone”

“Where?”

“I chucked it out”

“What? That was a great shirt! When did you chuck it out?” I enquired, hoping that I might be able to rescue it from the charity bag currently sitting in the driveway if I undertook a Linford Christie-like dash before it was spirited away.

“About nine years ago”

“Oh – ermmmm, well, someone got a bargain then”

“Errr...............it went in the bin, not a charity bag. Even the most desperate refugee in Rwanda wouldn’t have been seen dead in that shirt”.

Women!
