TWO men accused of murdering a pair of French students were caught on camera in the hours leading up to the attack.

Dano Sonnex and Nigel Farmer were picked up by CCTV while walking along Casella Road, New Cross, at around 5.18am on June 29.

They were later seen on a different camera making their way up Brocklehurst Street.

The prosecution claims they then made their way to Sterling Gardens where they tortured 23-year-old French students Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez for their pin numbers.

More footage shown to the Old Bailey today (May 6) showed Sonnex making two trips to cash machines on New Cross Road, having made his way up Clifton Rise.

In the first instance he is accused of stealing £360 using Mr Bonomo's card at around 6.41am.

But on the second occasion, at around 7.23am, he used Mr Ferez's card which was retained by the ICC store cash machine.

The prosecution claims he then returned to the Sterling Gardens flat where the two students were killed.

A further clip showed Farmer visiting a Londis store hours after the murders had taken place.

DC Karen Cox pointed out that Farmer appeared to be "thumbing through a bundle of notes" while waiting to be served.

The jury then saw footage from Lewisham police station of Farmer handing himself in on July 7.

In the clips Farmer, who admits burning down the crime scene, speaks to an officer and leans on the reception counter.

He can be seen clutching cream and applying it to his burnt hands, before standing up and waving his arms around.

Farmer, aged 33, of no fixed address, and Sonnex, aged 23, of Etta Street, Deptford, deny murder, arson and false imprisonment.

Sonnex admits burglary but Farmer denies the charge.

The trial continues.
