A TRIAL about the death of Rob Knox heard from the bouncer in the bar where he was killed.

Karl Bishop is accused of murdering Mr Knox on May 24 last year outside the Metro Bar, Station Road, Sidcup.

Doorman Musa Balogun, known at the bar as Baloo, told the Old Bailey today (Feb 12) he saw Mr Knox's friend Dean Saunders, being punched in the face by Bishop one week before on May 17.

Later, the bouncer saw Bishop running down the road with a wooden stick which had what looked like nails sticking out of it.

And Mr Balogun said he then saw Bishop banging on a door in the street and heard him say: "Open the door, I need to get my knife."

The defence argued that the bouncer had confused Bishop with somebody else when he saw this.

On the night of the attack, the bouncer had refused Bishop and a friend entry but the two of them tried to get in the bar by jumping over the fence into a smoking area.

He said he then saw Mr Knox and Bishop in discussion over the smoking area fence and asked if Rob was ok.

The doorman said Bishop asked him: "Do you think I'm a murderer?"

Mr Balogun later saw Mr Knox's friends and Bishop's friends involved in a fight outside the bar which he said calmed down before police arrived.

But Bishop came back later and Mr Balogun was warned by Mr Knox that the defendant was carrying a knife.

He told the court: "I asked him have you got a knife and he held out the two knives."

The bouncer said Bishop was holding them with the blades up and he looked angry.

Mr Balogun said he tried to stop Rob Knox and his friend from tackling Bishop but they pushed past him.

In the melee that followed, six people were stabbed and Mr Knox died from his injuries.

Bishop denies murder and wounding five people with the intent of causing grevious bodily harm.

The trial continues.
