As we approach the end of half term, several major roads that cross into south east London and north Kent have planned roadworks which may affect your journeys.

Parts of the M25, A2, and A21 are slated for maintenance and improvement work – scheduled to start in the evenings, mainly between 8pm and 6am.

Be prepared for some disruptions and detours, especially if you are expecting to travel during the early hours of the morning, as your route may be impacted by closures from the evening before.

It’s important to check ahead for the most accurate details before setting off on your journey.

All information about planned roadworks and traffic can be found on the National Highways and Traffic England websites.

This is what you can expect from the scheduled roadworks for each of these major routes.

M25:

The M25 will face closures to both anticlockwise and clockwise carriageways at different junctions, starting from 11pm on Friday, February 16 and continuing over the weekend.

On Friday, February 16, the M25 Anti-Clockwise from junction 27 to junction 25 will face a carriageway closure for maintenance work, with diversions via National Highways and Local Authorities roads.

This will be closed from 11pm until 5am on Saturday, February 17.

Other planned work for the same time on Friday, in the anti-clockwise direction, includes the closure of the junction 26 entry slip road and the junction 3 exit slip road.

There will also be a carriageway closure from junction 27 to junction 28, clockwise, from 11pm on Friday until 6am on Saturday.

For both Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18, the junction 6 to M11 southbound link road will be closed, in the anti-clockwise direction.

This is due to testing works, with the road closures in place from 10pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday, and again from 10.30pm on Sunday until 5.30am on Monday, February 19.

A2:

On the A2, the eastbound carriageway from Brenley Corner to Roman Road is scheduled for closure starting from 8pm on Friday, February 16 and ending at 6am on Saturday, February 17.

Also on Friday, the A2 westbound carriageway from Bean to Darenth will be closed, again 8pm until 6am on Saturday, February 17.

The westbound Three Crutches roundabout to M2 link road, as well as the westbound Tollgate entry slip road, are set for closure over the same time period.

Diversions will be in place and work will primarily involve surface work and barrier repairs at various points along the road.

A21:

For the A21, both directions from Hurst Green to Baldslow will undergo carriageway improvements, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The closures for these improvements will be in place from 8pm each day until 6am the following day.

Again, diversions will be put in place to redirect the traffic.
