A man in his 40s has died and another male has been taken to hospital in a serious condition following a crash near Swanley.

Police were called to the A20 this morning (Wednesday, August 23) at around 7am.

A white Kia Rio was driving on the Londonbound carriageway when it crashed into a bridge barrier just after the Swanley Interchange.

Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service were at the scene where a passenger, a man in his 40s, was confirmed dead.

A second passenger was taken to hospital where police have said he is in a serious condition.

Police are carrying out enquiries and are also urging witnesses and anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Officers are appealing for information following a fatal collision near Swanley.

“Kent Police was called at 6.55am on Wednesday 23 August 2023, to the incident on the A20.

“A white Kia Rio was travelling on the Londonbound carriageway when it collided with a bridge barrier just after the Swanley Interchange.

“Patrols and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where a passenger, a man in his 40s, was confirmed deceased.

“A second passenger was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

“Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are carrying out enquiries and are also urging witnesses and anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them.
