In just a few short days, millions will be making their way to the streets of North West London for Notting Hill Carnival.

The festival welcomes all from all over the world and celebrates Carrebiean culture and heritage.

With a parade full of colour and amazing performances, Notting Hill Carnival has become a huge event in London's event calendar and has come a long way since its humble beginnings.

If you're going to the carnival there are a couple of things you need to know, including if there is a bag policy.

You can also find out about road closures, timings, the parade route and more via our explainers.

Does Notting Hill Carnival have a bag policy?

Notting Hill Carnival does not have an active bag policy.

However, you should avoid bringing in large backpacks that could get in the way or will make it harder to get through crowds.

If possible keep to smaller bags that can be worn at your front, such as a money belt.

You should also not bring any glass and have more cash on you for food stalls and refreshments in the area.

When is Notting Hill Carnival 2023?

This year, Notting Hill Carnival will take place on Saturday, August 26, Sunday, August 27 and Monday, August 28.

The biggest day of all is held on Monday, the free day is also known as the carnival climax and kicks off at 12 pm.

With music being played throughout the day, the party vibes are huge as the parade makes its way through the streets of Notting Hill.
