With less than a week to go until polling day for the London Mayoral race and the London Assembly elections, here is News Shopper’s guide to casting your vote.

The Mayor of London has a responsibility for policing, environment, housing and much more in London, with the London Assembly elected to hold him or her to account.

London residents who are registered to vote will cast two choices on the pink ballot paper for London Mayor, their first and second preference.

Whilst voters have two ballot papers for the assembly member election.

The yellow ballot paper will be used for the person you want to represent your local area, and the orange ballot paper indicates your choice for a London-wide assembly member.

The geographical breakdown for the London Assembly differs to constituencies for other elections, with only 14 members elected in total.

In south-east London, residents will vote for one member to represent Lewisham and Greenwich, and one member for the Bexley and Bromley area.

The count

Once voting has concluded, the count will take place throughout the day on Friday before the results are announced.
