A young mum from Orpington who lost her husband just weeks before his 35th birthday has paid tribute to him.

Emma Plowman, 32, from near Tubbenden Lane, lost her partner, Paul, in February this year.

Mr Plowman, who was just three weeks before his 35th birthday, tragically died of a brain tumour.

The communications and technical officer for the Metropolitan Police was diagnosed when he was just 33.

At the time the couple’s daughter, Isabelle, was just 18 months old.

Mrs Plowman and her family raised £6,600 in the months after his death, enough to sponsor two days of research for charity Brain Tumour Research.

MORE TOP STORIES Now three years old, Isabelle’s nursery, Tubbenden Nursery along Sandy Bury, pitched in and raised £600.

Mrs Plowman's brother, Ben Everest, took on Mount Snowdon.

Marathons, triathlons and ‘wear a hat day’ all helped contribute to the final amount.

She said: “It was such a terrible shock when Paul was diagnosed, but then to discover that research into this devastating disease is so badly funded was a cruel eye-opener.”

As well as the research, the family will be able to choose two tiles on significant dates on the Wall of Hope in one of Brain Tumour Research’s Centres of Excellence.

Mrs Plowman added it meant “so much” to her to be able to fund the research.
