Once again Star Wars sent the internet into overdrive last week when a new clip from the upcoming movie, The Force Awakens, was released.
Peckham-born John Boyega, who studied at Wandsworth’s South Thames College, takes centre stage as he closes the snippet wielding a jedi lightsaber.
The short video on the official @StarWars Instagram page depicts a terrifying Empire-style First Order army amassed before cutting to a stunned-looking Rey (Daisy Ridley) alongside new droid BB8.
Then we hear John Williams menacing Imperial March as the Darth Vader-esque Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) powers up his ragged red lightsaber. As the clip closes we see Boyega’s Finn, presumably opposing him.
JJ Abrams directs the hotly-anticipated new movie, which is set to be released in December.
It is set 30 years after 1983’s Return of the Jedi and old favourites Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford all return alongside a new starring cast, including John Boyega.
