Firefighters rescued a 'helpless' horse this morning (August 28) which became trapped in a wire cable on the disused Thamesview Golf Centre.
The piebald cob was found at around 8.30am by Thamesmead resident Paolo Puccinelli who was walking his dog nearby.
Mr Puccinelli called the fire brigade after realising he couldn't free the trapped horse.
He told News Shopper: "I was just dog walking along the Thames Path and I saw it. It was literally completely helpless.
"It had this steel cable trapped around one of its hind legs, the back leg was dangling up in the air."

The 38-year-old said there were around eight other horses grazing on the former golf range at the time.
He added: "It's just overrun with ponies. It looked like it had been stuck for quite a while."
RSPCA officers are expected to visit this afternoon after the horse was left wounded by the steel cable.
The owner was not present at the time.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said one fire engine from the Bexley station attended the incident near Fairway Drive and the horse was released at just after 9am.
