A Lewisham man who racially abused a bus driver and attacked three passengers has been jailed.

Anthony Grant, of Hither Green Lane, carried out four different attacks in Lewisham, Hackney, Southwark and Islington between February 2 and April 1.

Grant, 26, pleaded guilty to affray, racially or religiously aggravated fear or provocation of violence, criminal damage and three counts of assault.

He was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday (July 24) to two and half years behind bars.

In one attack, he pushed past a group of people trying to board a bus in Islington shouting and swearing.

When the 41-year-old driver asked him to get off, he began to racially abuse him.

MORE TOP STORIES In another incident Grant sprayed a can of deodorant in a man’s face aboard a bus in Southwark, before throwing the can at him.

He proceeded to kick and punch the victim repeatedly as he fled downstairs.

In a separate attack, Grant assaulted a 31-year-old woman while aboard no. 75 bus in Lewisham on April 1.

Grant also caused criminal damage and assaulted a 41-year-old woman on February 2 while on a bus in Hackney.

Detective Chief Inspector John Oldham, roads and transport policing command, said: "The Roads and Transport Policing Command are committed to keeping London's transport network safe and this sentence sends a strong message that this type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and will result in tough penalties."
