A New Cross nightclub faces having its licence suspended after a teenage girl sustained horrific head and facial injuries outside the venue.

Met Police have requested an expedited - fast-track - licensing review for The Venue in Clifton Rise, which will be heard by Lewisham’s Licensing Authority tomorrow night (July 29).

Jodie Hills, 19, claims she was thrown out of the nightclub and pushed onto railings by a doorman in the early hours of Saturday morning.

She suffered a 10-inch cut to her forehead and a broken nose and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service paramedics where she received 28 stitches.

But bosses at The Venue claim her injuries were caused when she fell outside the club after she had been ejected.

Images of Jodie’s injuries went viral on Facebook and Twitter after they were shared by her friends and family.

The Venue faces a host of strict licensing conditions or having its licence suspended altogether pending a full review in 28 days.

Lewisham borough commander Chief Superintendent Kate Halpin requested the review, which will be held behind closed doors due to an ongoing police investigation.

An expedited review can only be requested by a police officer of superintendent rank or above.

A spokesman for The Venue said yesterday: "In response to the incident involving a young lady who was injured on Friday night we are taking this matter extremely seriously.

"The Venue would like to say her injuries were sustained outside the club as a result of her falling after she was ejected from the premises.

"They were not inflicted by a member of staff as has been stated and the club CCTV proves this and will be handed over to the police whom we are cooperating with fully in their ongoing investigation.

"We wish Jodie a full and speedy recovery and will continue to give our full co-operation to the police in their investigation of this unfortunate incident."

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the venue or nearby between 11.50pm on Friday and 3.35am on Saturday, who may have information as to how the injuries were sustained, to come forward.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
