Police are investigating 'racially motivated malicious communication' from a New Cross diversity officer.

Goldsmiths wefare and diversity officer Bahar Mustafa, 27, has been at the head of a media storm after banning white men from an event on diversifying the curriculum.

She then responded to criticism by stating that as an ethnic minority woman it was impossible for her to be racist.

Following a complaint on May 7, police are now investigating Ms Mustafa.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said; "We received a complaint on May 7 about an alleged incident of racially motivated malicious communication made on a social media account.

"Lewisham Community Safety Unit are currently investigating the incident and no arrests have been made. Enquiries continue."

A petition to hold a vote of no confidence in Ms Mustafa will be passed if it is signed by three per cent students.

Ms Mustafa will the lose her job if two thirds of students vote to remove her from office.

A separate petition on change.org to remove Bahar Mustafa from Goldsmiths University has been signed by more than 18,000 people.
