Keston boxing champion David Haye has reportedly had his passport seized after he was arrested following an accusation of fraud.
The former heavyweight champion is said to have been stopped at Dubai International Airport when his name came up on a wanted list.
The arrest apparently stems from a bounced £341,000 cheque (1. 8 million United Arab Emirates Dirham) for a new property by developers Emaar, part-owned by the government.
The 34-year-old was reportedly taken to Bur Dubai police station, which has a department for bounced cheques suspects, but is thought to have been released later that day.
It is a crime to write a cheque which later bounces in Dubai, part of the United Arab Emirates.
He told The Sun: "The cheque was presented to the bank four days before I landed. It was not due to be presented until final completion of my property, which is due in a few weeks.
"This was an administrative error which is being rectified. I explained to the police and presented documents as proof. But I can totally understand these mistakes can happen."
MORE TOP STORIES The boxer and two of his aides were also said to have handed over their passports to authorities, meaning Mr Haye has been unable to leave the country.
He missed BAMMA 20, a martial arts event, in Birmingham on Saturday (April 25) where he was supposed to be commentating.
But he took to social media to reassure fans and thank them for their support, putting the hiccup down to an ‘administrative issue’.
In an instagram video posted yesterday (April 27), he said: “A little administrative issue has left me in Dubai for a few days longer than anticipated but it's getting smoothed out as we speak and I'll be back - probably in London or Las Vegas soon.”
Mr Haye has been busy posting his adventures on social media in the meantime, attending a Robbie Williams concert and posing for selfies with fans.
Rluctantly came to @robbiewilliams concert Abu Dhabi, as not my style of music. But I'm a fan now, pure old school! pic.twitter.com/mI5SX7A23Q
