A woman in her 20s was found on the tracks at West Wickham station this morning (April 10).

Emergency services personnel were called to West Wickham station at 11.40am to reports of an injured woman on the tracks.

The woman is being treated in hospital with what are believed to be 'life-threatening injuries'.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Enquiries to establish how the woman came to be on the tracks are ongoing."

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed the woman was taken via air ambulance with head and leg injuries to the Royal London Hospital.

They sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic by car, a duty station officer and London's Air Ambulance.

Emergency services were unable to confirm if the woman had been hit by a train.

Eyewitnesses claim to have seen the air ambulance land on a nearby golf course.

The station has now reopened and trians are calling at West Wickham. 

London buses and Tramlink were accepting valid tickets earlier.
