A Hayes road has reopened after winds left scaffolding tottering dangerously.
Police and London Fire Brigade officers shut Mead Way between Hayes Lane and Pickhurst Lane after they were called out to the shaky structure at around 4.20pm on Sunday afternoon (March 29).
The road reopened at 5.10pm on Monday after the scaffolding, which is attached to a small, semi-detached house undergoing refurbishment, was made safe.
Police remained on scene assisting traffic throughout the day.
The Borough Surveyor had attended and deemed the scaffolding unsafe at 18.35pm on Sunday.
A Bromley Council spokesperson said, “The council’s structural engineer was called to the scene on Sunday by the London Fire Brigade and we confirmed that the scaffolding structure was unsafe having moved in the high winds.
"On Monday, the scaffolding company attended the scene and dismantled some of their scaffold thereby eliminating the potential danger allowing the road to subsequently re-open.”
Bus route 314 has returned to normal following a diversion.
