News Shopper: Ross and Rachel from Friends found it very difficult to remain friends after their breakup

Watch the first and the last half hour of Friends

Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the seminal show by spending your extra hour catching up with Joey, Chandler, Ross, Monica, Rachel and Pheobe. Clearly, you don’t have time to watch it all, so just turn on the first one so you’re reacquainted with how fresh faced and innocent they were.

Then fast forward a decade to see where they ended up.

If you’ve not seen it before, you’ll be satisfied that you know how they ended up without having to watch hours of people having coffee and wearing turkeys on their head. And if you have, all those ‘we were on a break’ memories will come flooding back. Now, this plan’s not perfect because the last episode was an hour long, so just watch the end of it.

Go to church

Each year, we all like to spend the extra hour thinking about our own mortality. But this time, why not find God by heading to your local church and joining in with the Sunday service. If it finishes early, spend the extra minutes in prayer and silent contemplation.

Or maybe just concentrate on one thing.

Madonna and JT (Justin Timberlake) say you have four minutes to save the world in the irresistibly lively song ‘4 minutes’. With an extra hour, one could save the world an impressive 15 times.

Watch a ‘classic’ film you’ve never seen before

People talk up the likes of The Godfather but maybe you’re not convinced. If you give it a watch with your extra hour and decide you don’t like it then you’ll have actually only wasted an hour and 40 minutes.
