Penge’s new library has been officially opened.
Beckenham’s Baroness Floella Benjamin OBE was on hand to cut the ribbon at a ceremony on Thursday (Oct 16).
It opened to the public in August and Bromley Council says it has already seen "significant increases" in membership and visitor numbers.
It replaces two old libraries in Penge and Anerley, which closed in the summer.
Television personality and author Baroness Benjamin read to local children at the event and was joined by members of the council.
She added: "It was a great pleasure to officially open this fantastic new library. "Reading is such an important part of children’s lives so it was wonderful to see them using this new facility for the local community."
The new site has increased floor space, an improved book collection, and a touch screen service.
