A Gravesend woman is set to take on a fund-raising challenge to raise funds for an Alzeimher's charity in support of her dad - who once owned a popular Cobham pub.

Kate Howard, aged 48 of Ryarsh Road will be taking on the walk at Leeds Castle on October 11 for her 77-year-old dad Trevor Howard, who once owned the Darley Arms in The Street, Cobham and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s five years ago.

Kate said: "Mum and dad had an amazing life; they owned a pub called The Darnley Arms in Cobham, which they loved. "I think it’s so important for people to realise that getting a dementia diagnosis does not mean life is over and my parents proved this."

Miss Howard is now passionate about raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society and is hoping to make over £1,000 for the charity and is full of praise for the services and support they provide for not just the person living with dementia but also the carers.
