THE London Assembly has agreed to lobby the Government to include Woolwich in the £16bn Crossrail network.
The 25-member assembly voted unanimously to write to Transport Secretary Douglas Alexander and call on him to include the £270m station at Woolwich.
All five political parties supported the motion, which was put forward by the Liberal Democrats on November 15.
The motion follows the Government's U-turn to reconsider the option for a Woolwich station after a House of Commons debate.
Liberal Democrat Geoff Pope, who chairs the assembly's transport committee, said: "A station at Woolwich is vital for regeneration and has an excellent business case, which will mean Crossrail is better value for money."
Campaigning for a Woolwich station has received the support of thousands of residents, the business community and all political parties.
Around 2,300 jobs would be created and 4,350 new homes built if a station does go ahead.
