Nearly eleven years after the release of their self-titled debut album ‘The 1975’, a band of many hits and controversies has returned to their home nation. Bringing with them their world tour, ‘The 1975 Still… At Their Very Best’ has taken the nation by storm, travelling from Glasgow, including a four date stay at London’s O2, then ending in Birmingham after a visit to home town Manchester.

The band’s latest album ‘Being Funny in a Foreign Language’ became their fifth UK chart topper in early October 2022, becoming an instant success with fans after hit ‘About You’ went viral on TikTok. Internet fame helped them grow from strength to strength, as despite multiple controversial scandals from front-man Matty Healy- including an alleged brief relationship with Taylor Swift- the 1975 have been enjoying regularly sold out shows across their world tour.

Featuring their most well-known songs such as, ‘Robbers’ and ‘the Sound’, the band’s show features a house like set, complete with roof top performances and in character crew members dressed in white lab coats- seemingly to replicate a film set. The dramatic, dystopian atmosphere generated by the performance is lapped up by fans, many of whom have started dressing as if to imitate Healy in white shirts and black ties. Such a community feel from the fan-base seems to be much loved by the band, who have begun including cult favourites such as ‘You’ and ‘Menswear’ in their setlist, almost as a thank you to their most dedicated concert goers.

Dedicated seems to be an understatement when it comes to the 1975’s following. Fans gained great internet attraction over the past few weeks, sharing photos of them camping for multiple nights in the February weather in an attempt to secure the best stage view. Some may argue this seems a tad obsessive however, considering that the band have announced a hiatus after the tours end, it is possible this may be the last opportunity for fans to see their favourite artists and tracks. Understandably, the winter cold is yet to phase them thus far!
